1. Qualifying Examination
① The dissertation qualifying examination (hereinafter, qualifying exam) comprises of a language test (English) and major subject tests. In regards to the language test, the program follows the university’s graduation requirements. Foreign language exam can be replaced by other test’s scores for the following cases(551 or higher for TEPS, 79 or higher for TOEFL IBT, which are valid in 2016)
② Students must have been enrolled for a minimum of three semesters and enrolled at least 18 credits to take the qualifying exam (rule).
③ Students are required to take the qualifying exam within 2 years after completing their coursework.
④ The qualifying exam is administered once at the beginning of every semester (rule).
⑤ Students who wish to take the qualifying exam should get the approval of their dissertation advisor one month before the exam. Students must also submit a “proposal for the qualifying exam” on a separate form to the program head.
⑥ The major subject test should be a comprehensive assessment on the dissertation topics as well as the students’ knowledge on the area of study relevant to future professions.
⑦ The passing score for the major subject test is 70 or higher out of 100 (rule).
⑧ Students who have published their papers in world renowned SCI, SCIE, SSCI, A&HCI or SCOPUS journals as the lead author, corresponding author or the first author are exempt from the major subject test.
2. Research Accomplishments
① The statement of research accomplishments is a record of research relevant to your dissertation topic.
② For research presentation records students should submit more than 200% of their paper submission records.
③ A single paper submission to domestic journals count for 100%. When there are more than one author, either being the first author, corresponding author or being an author out of two authors count for 70%. When there are three authors involved, being the co-author counts for 50% while in the cases which more than four authors are involved, being the co-author counts for 30%. (A student should be the first author or the corresponding author in at least one of his/her published papers.)
④ Papers published in languages other than Korean, such as English, and which are included in proceedings of international academic conferences are counted as the same percentage as publishing papers in Korean journals, only for a single paper. (This does not apply to domestic conferences.)
⑤ A single publication in SCI, SSCI, SCIE or A&HCI journals count for 200% when the student is the sole author. When the student is the first author or corresponding author of a paper published by two authors, it counts for 140% of the requirement. (This does not apply when the student is not the first or corresponding author.)
1. 논문제출자격시험
① 논문제출자격시험(이하 논자시)은 외국어시험(영어)과 전공시험으로 하고, 외국어시험은 서울대학교 학위수여규정에 따른다(학칙). 외국어시험은 다음의 시험으로 대체된다(TEPS 551점, TOFLE IBT 79점 이상, 2016년 기준)
② 자격시험 응시자는 3개 학기 이상 등록하고 18학점 이상을 취득하여야 한다(학칙).
③ 학생은 수료 후 2년 이내에 자격시험을 수험해야 한다.
④ 시험은 매 학기초 1회 실시한다(학칙).
⑤ 논자시에 응시하고자 하는 학생은 응시 1개월 이전에 지도교수의 승인을 받아 ‘논문제출자격시험 응시계획서’를 별도의 양식으로 작성하여 주임교수에게 제출하여야 한다.
⑥ 전공 시험 과목은 학생의 학위논문을 포함하여 장래의 전공영역에 관련된 분야의 능력을 종합적으로 검사할 수 있도록 선정하여야 한다.
⑦ 전공시험 과목별 합격점수는 100점 만점에 70점 이상으로 한다(학칙).
⑧ SCI, SCIE, SSCI, A&HCI, SCOPUS 등 유수 국외 학술지에 주저자, 교신저자 또는 제1저자로 논문을 게재한 경우 논자시를 면제한다.
2. 관련 연구논문 실적
① 연구논문발표실적은 학위논문 주제와 연계된 논문실적을 제시하도록 한다.
② 연구논문 발표실적은 200% 이상의 논문투고실적을 제출해야 한다.
③ 국내학술지 논문투고실적은 단독논문 100%, 2인 이상의 경우 주저자 또는 교신저자일 때의 경우 70%, 2인 공동 70%, 3인 공동 50%, 4인 이상 공동 30%로 계산한다. (단, 투고논문실적 중 적어도 하나이상은 주저자 또는 교신저자이어야 한다.)
④ 국제학술발표회 Proceeding에 포함된 영어 등의 외국어 논문발표 실적에 대해서는 1회에 한하여 국내 논문투고실적과 동일하게 적용한다.(국내학술발표회는 해당없음)
⑤ 국외 SCI, SSCI, SCIE, A&HCI 학술지 논문투고실적은 단독논문 200%, 2인 이상의 경우 주저자 또는 교신저자일 때의 경우 140%로 계산한다.(주저자 또는 교신저자가 아닐 경우 실적으로 인정하지 않는다.)
